Tubex and DFNS powered by alu-air© are proud to announce that their collaborative innovation – alu-air© - has won the prestigious German Packaging Award in the Design category.

alu-air collaborated with DFNS and developed a unique concept that not only reduces CO2 emission but also features an eye-catching patented ‘groove’ design that stands out at the point of sale.

Plastic waste and carbon emissions are huge barriers to reaching global sustainable development goals. Introducing the alu-air technology, the world's first air-powered dispensers made from recycled aluminum that reduce carbon emissions by 79% compared to traditional aerosols.

The alu-air ‘powered by AIR’ device emits pure product under higher pressure and is free from harmful propellants. The can is made of 95% recycled aluminum, requiring 90% less energy to produce than virgin aluminum, and, with on-can printing, plastic labels are no longer required. In addition, an innovative water-repellent solution was developed that is water-based, PFAS-free and has a 20 minute drying time.

Chosen from 247 entries, the German Packaging Award highlights the ingenuity and forward-thinking nature of alu-air©. The design of the can is also future-proof, allowing for the integration of future features such as a pressure control system to spray non-water-soluble ingredients evenly using air.

This collaboration underscores the potential of Tubex and DFNS’s alu-air© to set new standards in the industry, revolutionizing sustainable packaging solutions.
